Understanding the Purpose of God for Egypt – Isaiah 19 (with MP3)

Do we understand what is happening in Egypt now? In the light of the unrest there – political, social etc, do we know what is on God’s heart for this nation and what He is doing there? There is no way we can fully understand what is happening in Egypt now unless we understand what is God’s purpose for Egypt. We need to see the bigger picture of God’s redemptive purposes for Egypt before we can make sense of what is happening there now.

Though we do not have all understanding and clarity now, we need to press in and ask God what He is doing. As forerunners, we need to develop clarity and understanding so that we can be the voice of God, proclaiming what God is saying/doing so that we can exhort believers to pray in accordance to God’s heart.

Isaiah 19, which is written in context of Jesus’ second coming, describes God’s prophetic destiny for Egypt and her relationship to Israel and ancient Assyria (present day Iraq including areas of Syria, Jordan and Turkey). Understanding Isaiah 19 will give a hint of what is happening in Egypt now and we can use the Scriptures to pray for them.
